Elbow

Elbow est un groupe de rock originaire d'Angleterre (Manchester) s'appellant lors de sa création Soft. Formé dans les années 1990, il est composé de Mark Potter (guitare), Richard Jupp (batterie), Craig Potter (clavier), Peter Turner (basse), Guy Garvey (chant).
Ces personnes se sont rencontrées dans leur jeunesse, au nord de Manchester, ayant un point commun : mêmes goûts pour la musique. La plupart travaille au 'Roadhouse', une salle de concerts, et c'est ici qu'ils vont monter face au public pour la première fois. Ils obtiennent un contrat chez 'Island' en 1998, mais pour après se faire virer par la maison de disque. Elbow signe alors sur UglyMan, un petit label. Ils sortent alors leurs premiers singles, qui les ammènent jusque chez V2 Music. Leur premier album, Asleep in the Back (2001), est très attendu sur la scène rock britannique. L'album connaît dès sa sortie un rapide et excellent succès à travers l'Europe. En 2003, Elbow sort Cast of Thousands, pour suivre avec Leaders of the Free World en 2005. En savoir plus sur Last.fm.
