Bruce Hornsby

Bruce HORNSBY est un pianiste, accordéoniste né le 23/11/54 à Williamsburg-Virginie.
Pendant ses années de collège, il jouait Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea
passa quelques temps à l'école Berklee à Boston et finit par un jazz degree à l'université de Miami tout en aimant les "chansons" et il prit la décison d'écrire en tant qu'auteur compositeur plutôt que de continuer une carrière de jazzman.
Sortie de son 1er album en 1986, "The way it is", élue chanson de l'année en 1987.
Il a obtenu 3 Grammy awards en 86-89 & 1993.
A collaboré avec Don Henley pour "End of innocence" sorti en 1989, avec Bonnie Raitt (album "Luck of the draw" 1991) pour la chanson I can't make you love me, avec le groupe Grateful Dead comme membre "intérimaire" de 90 à 1992 (plus de 100 concerts aux States), Jerry Garcia leur leader a d'ailleurs joué de la guitare sur l'album de Bruce en 1990 "A night in town"et sur "Harbor lights en 1993 entre autres.
Fortement influencé par le jazz, il traduit ce changement dès son 4é album "Harbor lights" sorti en 1993, sur lequel il s'entoure de grosses pointures (Pat Metheny à la guitare et Branford Marsalis au sax).
